Single but looking? Take Time to Prepare

According to the 2000 census, 40% of U.S. adults-nearly 82 million men and women-are unmarried, the highest proportion of single or one-person households since the census began. This figure includes nearly 20 million divorcees, 13.6 million widows, and more than 48 million adults who've never married.

Factors behind this swing toward singleness include higher rates of divorce and cohabitation, marriage at a later age, and delay in remarriage after divorce or death. Still, the census bureau projects 90% of Americans will marry at some point in their lives.

This means many singles are interested in dating to find a spouse. And if you're among that group, it makes sense to prepare now for an eventual marriage, even if you're not currently dating. Our workshop, How to Avoid Marrying a Jerk(ette), teaches you how to open your heart without losing your head. Learn to evaluate a relationship's health and foresee possible problems before you become too attached to be objective.
